Back from Mexico

I'm back from Puerto Vallarta.  We stayed at the Secrets resort there.  It's a newer one towards the north end of the hotel strip.  It's a really great resort and I ate and drank way too much.  We had a preferred king jr. suite, and it was worth it.  We first reserved a king swimout, and we are so glad we didn't.  The pool is shared by four suites, so that's not private.  And everyone walking by pretty much is watching you.  I constantly caught myself looking over at them when walking to our preferred lobby.

We ate at almost all of the restaurants. They were very good about making things the way that I needed them, and lots of vegetarian options.  Alcohol was abundant, and I drank quite a bit.  So, not a trip that I maintained my weight.  On the other hand, pretty much all the ladies were about my size (some vary), and it made me a lot less conscious of myself.

We made it down to the pedestrian area a couple times to buy some art and take in the sight.  I found a great little ice place next to the church that made some great lemon ice.  Very refreshing.

I don't know about coming back to this side of Mexico.  I've always loved coming down here, but I like the Caribbean side a lot more.  The water is swim-able and so blue.  Very different vibe as well.  A bit more relaxed.

On a very sad subject.....

I asked my mom to take my youngest dog (3) to the vet because his tummy was looking swollen, and everyone kept telling me he got fat, but I didn't believe it.  She got him in right away and they did a bunch of tests.  They came back a day and a half later and he had gained 14 pounds in liquid.  They drained some of the liquid and did an ultrasound and some other tests.  The liquid was crushing his liver to half of its normal size and had started to get into his upper chest around his heart.  When the results came back from the full urinalysis, they found out his kidneys had stopped working.  Apparently the ultrasound didn't show it because of the liquid.  They said that there would have been nothing we could have done and it was really just a matter of time.  If we hadn't brought him in, he would have died in a lot of pain, and we probably would have just found his body.  They put him down the day before our anniversary.  This pain is so great and nonstop.
