10 Weeks BodyChange Changetime Review

I enjoy the idea of online coaching.  I really like the sites that allow food tracking and have a community area to chat with people that are in it with you.  I like interaction with my trainer whenever needed or to give me a boost.  In my search for the perfect program, 10 Weeks BodyChange with John Cena somehow got on my radar.

Okay not my typical type of guy I am attracted to, but I'm not blind.  John Cena is eye candy.  What's better?  Oh yeah, he actually seems like he is a great guy.  I think I could make myself workout with him.

This program is $99 for 12 weeks of access.  I searched for a coupon code, but they were all expired.  There is also a payment option, but you pay more that way.  There is also a 30 day guarantee.  The program is 10 weeks, and you get another two of the access to the website.  Then you are cut off.  You can sign up/pay for their other program which is just a continuation and maintenance plan.  There is also a group on facebook.  There is supposed to be a community, other than facebook, which customer service emailed me that it was about to "go live," but it didn't.

Each week opens up access to that particular week in the program.  You can still go back and get information or watch the videos, but you cannot jump ahead.  Each page has two videos where you work out with John.  You also have a video with him showing how to make one of the recipes.

In the first week you get the diet.  I for some reason thought that there was more to it that we get in subsequent weeks, but that seems to be it.  The diet plan is printable as is most of the information.  The workouts in week one are over easy, but it is meant to be that way.  Each week gets progressively harder.

The diet is a basic paleo diet.  Meat, vegetables, and fat is pretty much it.  There is a bit of fruit after your workout.

Having John as your trainer seems like a great idea, and he makes it sound like you have an amazing support team and him there for you.  His involvement looked limited to the videos on the pages and corny photos they use on the pages and in the emails.

There is no food tracking or water measure on the site.  It has a page that you can post your weekly picture and your measurements.  That's about it.

I made it through week three, and decided this was not for me.  I knew that I had to make my choice before the 30 days were up.  I contemplated just keeping it so I could do a bit more of a review on it, but thought I might like to apply the $99 to another program.  I emailed customer service to cancel.  I received a very friendly email back and was informed that the refund might take a couple of weeks.

If you look online, there is another Changetime that is German.  It is the same program, but this one has John Cena as the trainer.  This was a little discomforting, as it kind of felt to me that it was portrayed that John came up with this stuff.  Is he really just hawking this for the money?  Did he have any input into the diet and/or exercise?

Overall,  I lost three pounds in three weeks.  The community isn't up, but you can talk to people on Facebook.  It's $99 for 12 weeks and then they cut you off?  That seems like a lot to not maintain access to the site.  I would think it should be $99 for the year.  How much involvement John Cena has in the program is questionable.  The site is lame.  There is no tracking of food and drink. The support feels non-existent to me except Facebook.  I kept feeling like I was in the middle of a corny propaganda machine.   This program is a pass for me.

  1. Thank you for that review. I've been going back and forth about trying it out, but I didn't want to pay $99 for recipes and a few work out videos. Now that I know you only get 12 weeks of access, I'm definitely not interested.

    1. Just had to reply because the review had the opposite effect on me. The price and time limit was my perfect anti-procrastination helper. If I spend that kind of money then I better get my but in gear and make it worth it. The diet gets you away from the sugar and simple starches and that works for me, so I decided to give it a try for the whole 10 weeks. I loved the workouts. Yes, I miss them and wish there was a DVD that you could buy, but I made simple screenshots and notes of the number of reps and simply continue them on my own. Oh yes I did lose 10 pounds.

    2. My review had this affect on you, but you already did the program? Maybe I read this incorrectly. When I tried this program they had just come out with a new program for those wishing to continue past the 10 week program. Maybe, if they still have this available, is something for you to look into for those videos. Good luck

    4. I lost 21 pounds on this and then went to a dietician who changed my diet and have gained at least 12 back. Sadly, I can no longer find this plan on line or I would gladly restart it!

  2. John Cena may actually have had some input, he has degrees in exercise, physiology and human anatomy. Before he became a wrestler he was interested in working in Sports Medicine.

    1. I know! That's one of the reasons that I joined. Unfortunately, there is nothing that really gives the impression that he does. And, sadly, the program is still not worth it.

  3. Thank you for this honest review. I was on the fence about it, but now I know it's not for me. Anyone can get paleo diet info for free, not to mention great workouts on You Tube for free. Thanks again!

  11. I am starting my third week and I love the program. I think if you are in a similar situation as his father was-sedentary, overweight, bad knees ect...It is a great motivator to get you off the couch and get your butt back into gear. It has helped me realize the impact sugar has on my body and to wean off of artificial sweetners. I have lost 7 pds in 2 weeks and already feeling better and more motivated. I always look forward to see what the next week brings. For $8.25 a week for 12 weeks to get me motivated and healthier i would say it is well worth it!

  12. Thanks for the review. I have searched online for reviews of this product, and was happy when I found yours. When 90% of the reviews you find all say basically the same thing and nothing negative, you have to wonder. Although, your review wasn't negative, it felt to me like a true review, offering the good with the bad. I was freaking out over the $99 for 10 wks deal, and was hoping, maybe there was a family plan. But after reading your review, I think I will stick with my instincts and say no to Mr. John Cena. - Teresa

  15. It worked for me! It was well worth the money as I needed the guidance and determination. I loved the fact that I only needed to do two 20 min workouts a week and was awarded with a fruit smoothie after. I loved that they start you out easy and ease you up to harder workouts. I also loved eating and drinking whatever I wanted on load days. I'm not going to lie, the rest of the week was trickier. I had to learn new ways to make the same things appealing. But who doesn't love a diet that you can eat bacon and eggs??? I love the compliments I get now at 50 years old. My hubby noticed a difference in me and started following the eating plan with me. He was well over 300lbs. He has lost so much that now the dial on the scale doesn't even go past the 300. He is so excited that he now is also implementing the exercises into his plan.
Yes, the videos and John were a bit hokey and most of the weight loss is due to the diet. But it worked and I'm also now exercising because his videos showed me I didn't have to kill myself. lol

Maybe you don't need to spend the money for this plan but I did. I needed that extra push to say...don't stop now, you invested into this.

So hokey or not...loved this plan as I'm a happy lady who is now under on her BMI and will no longer be listed as "overweight" on her medical files! I also feel so much healthier and my body doesn't hurt anymore!

If you decide to do the plan, be serious about it and don't cheat. It's only ten weeks and the weeks go by pretty quick. Get creative with meals and snacks, it gets old, but keep going! You will be happy you did.

Don't do this plan if you know that you will not be dedicated to it and also in changing your eating and fitness habits. It will be a waste of money for you.

  16. Congrats Kym!! I'm glad the plan worked for you. Everyone needs to find the one that suits them. It's good to hear a positive experience and to know that you are healthy and active. Keep it up!!!

  17. Thanks Samantha! I wanted to give an update. I'm still doing pretty good because I learned some things from the diet that stayed with me. But the thing I find not to pleasing is that you spend $99 and then after you are through with the program, you pretty much are locked out unless you decide to pay $13 a month. Which to me isn't worth it because after you learn the initials stuff, you understand what you should be doing. But I would really like to go back on and access the workout videos and follow along the program again. For $99 I would think they should allow that. So for an initial boost to the metabolism and getting you back into good routines, the program is great...but for maintenance, it is not unless you want to shell out more cash. After the holidays, I need a little push to get back on it! Looking at other avenues now as I did find out that I like to have direction...but I don't want to pay $13 a month. lol
